Think you can't be hypnotised?

Hypnosis has been used for hundreds of years, but people still have many misconceptions about what it is and how it can be used. I often hear people say, "Oh, I couldn't be hypnotised, it just wouldn't work for me" but the truth is that ANYONE can be hypnotised! Hypnosis is not mind control, despite what many people think from seeing stage hypnotists make volunteers cluck like a chicken or drop their trousers in front of a crowd of people. In fact, those people who say they couldn't be hypnotised have probably already been in a state of hypnosis today. Carry on reading for some key facts on Hypnosis

1. Suggestibility in hypnosis has been linked to intelligence.

What does this mean? The more intelligent you are the more easily you can go into hypnosis! Still think you can't be hypnotised..?

2. Hypnosis is not mind control, you cannot be "made" to do anything that you don't want to do.

Your subconscious mind wouldn't accept anything that went against your morals or beliefs. The hypnotherapist is just there to facilitate you making positive changes in your life.

3. Hypnosis is not a magical state.

Sorry if this upsets you but there is no magic behind hypnosis! There is however good scientific evidence of its incredible benefits. People have had full operations with no anaesthetic, merely using the power of hypnosis.

4. There is no such thing as a hypnotised feeling.

People might say "I didn't go under, it didn't work for me, I didn't feel any different". The truth is that Hypnosis feels different for everyone. You are often still able to hear everything the therapist is saying and this is completely normal. You might feel really relaxed, sleepy, floaty, tingly or just like you are sitting listening to some nice ideas. All options are fine and can all lead to amazing benefits!

5. Hypnosis can be beneficial to everyone!

Traditionally it has been used to treat fears, phobias, anxiety and depression but it can also have wider benefits. It can help people to increase their confidence, prepare for exams and driving tests, lose weight, stop smoking, manage chronic pain and so much more!

Yes, you are right, hypnosis is different from all people, so feeling it or not is a separate debate but it surely can fix many health issues like insomnia, anxiety and depression. Some people claim to hypnotizing someone quickly.
